An extended meeting of the UCPN (Maoist) central committee held Friday morning ended without entering the agendas due to dispute between leaders supporting party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai. The meeting was deferred to Saturday after a brief discussion "to figure out the extent of internal dispute," vice chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha said after the meeting held at Royal Singhi Hotel in Durbar Marg. "The meeting was adjourned without discussing other issues." The party called the CC meeting in the wake of growing dispute Dahal and Bhattarai after the latter's statement that he would not step down until there is a package deal on all issues and that the opposition parties should join his government before handover of government leadership to the NC.
